TODAY, Tuesday, Feb 17, 2009. According to a story on the Lebanon Democrat website.
Agenda: Whether to approve and fund a tentative settlement agreement of the lawsuit brought by former City Planner Bobby Franklin.
Here are the first few paragraphs of the story by Laurie Everett:
February 14, 2009 – Former City of Mt. Juliet planner Bobby Franklin’s federal lawsuit against the city of Mt. Juliet alleging unlawful termination has tentatively settled out of court, top level city officials confirmed Friday.
This comes almost a year to the date – Feb. 15, 2008 – Franklin filed the federal lawsuit against the city in U.S. District Court alleging his July 13, 2008 termination was “undertaken with malice or with reckless disregard for and indifference to Mr. Franklin’s protected rights and was intentional, malicious, reckless and/or fraudulent,” according to a copy of the lawsuit.
When contacted about the tentative settlement, Franklin would not elaborate but gave a brief statement.
“The most important thing was to restore my name and reputation, and I think the settlement does that,” he said.
