Beckwith Rd connector to start within weeks

another tidbit buried (on page 7) in the Chronicle of Mt. Juliet.

Beckwith Rd connector to start within weeks

Public Works Director Marlin Keel says work could being this month! The first 2,900 feet should being in March or April. There was a bid, and Lojac submitted the low number, at $1.7 million.

And its going to be paid for “with a portion of the funds from the issuance of Bonds approved recently by the Mt. Juliet city commission.” Did the City Commission approve the issuance of bonds? I remember an article about a preliminary resolution. Have they actually borrowed $10 million?

And this project starts at the interstate and goes about a half a mile north. It won’t even get to Division St. It won’t help traffic to the new high school. But the City thinks this is more important than building a road to the new high school?

Really!!??!!

There is no profit motive to developing the road to the school. The school doesn’t make the city money, cash registers make the city money. Follow the money.
